This is Dan Goggin's original "sister act" that spawned a series of sequels and a cult-like following about the Little Sisters of Hoboken who operate Mt. St. Helen's School in New Jersey.

One day their cook serves some tainted soup and 52 sisters die of botulism. A handful, who were off playing bingo, were spared:

the Reverend Mother, Sister Mary Leo, Sister Mary Hubert, Sister Robert Anne and Sister Mary Amnesia (who can't remember her name).

The sisters are only able to raise enough money to bury 48 of the 52 sisters, the four unburied dearly departed were put on ice in the convent freezer until more money could be raised. To raise the remaining money, the sisters stage a talent show with hysterical results.
