City of Angels is set in the glamorous, seductive Hollywood of the 40's; the world of film studios and flimsy negligees. With a jazz-based score, the show chronicles the misadventures of Stine, a young novelist who is attempting to write a screenplay for movie producer/director, Buddy Fidler. It's a tale of decadence and homicide with a liberal sprinkling of femmes fatale.

City of Angels is two shows in one with the cast divided into two groups: the Hollywood cast and the film cast. The film sequences--featuring Stone, the detective who Stine writes about--take place in a world of blacks, whites, and grays. The Hollywood sequences--featuring Stine and Buddy Fidler--take place in living color.
